Enjoy playing fun strategy games and a fantasy role-playing game where you can become a character, such as an elf, dwarf, wizard or knight. Role-play using different card, digital, and board games. Games will include Pokemon, Yu Gi Oh, Magic the Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons, chess and more. Work as a group to develop a playable strategy game from scratch. Learn how logic is implemented into each game and characters are balanced. Solve puzzles to master each game, using scenarios you might encounter in a quest.
How do magicians pull rabbits out of hats? How do they make them disappear again? This class unlocks the secrets to the techniques used in magic. Children learn to use a variety of normal household items such as cards, coins, cups & balls, rope and paper to perform tricks that are easy to do but which fool audiences every time! Students are also taught the acting, speaking, comedy, and memorization skills essential to the magician’s performance, all while building self-esteem. At the end of the session, children will present the tricks they have mastered in a show for parents and friends.
The heat of battle, the mental strain, the fear of defeat! No, we’re not talking about hand-to-hand combat — it’s chess! This course will introduce students to the love of the game and the ins and outs of classic chess strategies. More advanced instruction is also available.
In our unique class, students become a human board game as the pieces of the game. What does this mean, you might ask? Students learn about game playing, collaboration, and strategy from the inside out. We create a life-size version of many different board games such as Chess, Checkers, Monopoly, Battleship and Sorry.(For ages 5 and up).
Everyone loves to have fun, and some of the most fun games can help develop various skills and talents. In this program, students will learn and play enjoyable and educational games that can improve visual processing, memory, logic, reasoning and more!
From concept to complete, packaged product, learn what it takes to create a game. Students study the elements of some of their favorite games and apply those ideas to create a playable, original game. They will learn about game mechanics, play testing, art, production, prototyping, and publishing.
If you like math or logic puzzles, you will love to play bridge. It is a game that always has something new to learn and is always a challenge. Learn the basic rules of the game, how to score, as well as bidding and the play of the hand. It can be a social game when four friends get together or an international experience when played online with people from around the world.
