"
The staff is wonderful -- intelligent and interesting, of
course, but also respectful of Charles and his myriad obsessions
(still geography and ancient civilizations, and beginning
to learn about Native American tribes and customs.) Charles
feels totally comfortable hanging out at the Woodmont site,
and is eagerly learning whatever is presented to him (so far
math, Spanish and Chinese). He is interacting well with the
other kids, and surely will propose to Francesca by August
if not sooner!"

| What
is an Enrichment Centers' Enrichment Program? |
|
| Enrichment
Programs are normally held as a class, although this
does not mean that students will be confined to their
seats or even the classroom! Students will learn about
fun and exciting new topics every week. Our teachers
design lessons and class plans based on the needs of
each class, rather than teaching from an academic book!
Explore science one day; mythology the next! Enrichment
Programs are a great way to ensure that your son or
daughter is learning during the summer while having
fun!
Summer
Enrichment class sizes are capped, and average 5-8 students
per class. Class material varies from week to week,
and is determined by the age and skill composition of
each class.

Every
week students are involved in exciting, challenging
projects and activities, giving them an opportunity
to improve their skills in a variety of areas and discover
their talents. Enrichment Centers' programs teach students
how academic subjects can be applied to the real world.
Students of all ages will find their niche as members
of a team, making friends and learning to cooperate
in pursuit of a common goal.
Full and half days are available. A half-day of the
Summer Enrichment Project can be combined with our Customized
or Individual programs for a full day of fun and learning!

| What
is an Enrichment Centers' Group Tutoring Program? |
|
|
Group
tutoring programs have smaller class sizes than our
Enrichment Programs. Oftentimes, students will be working
in classes of two to five students, and sometimes even
one-on-one with their teacher. Our student-to-teacher
ratio for the past several years has been 1:3. A small
class size ensures that each student receives a customized
learning plan which will be fun and enriching. These
programs are ideal for students who want to work ahead,
catch up, or learn new skills in a short time.
We
have several types of customized group tutoring programs
available, including Gifted
& Talented, Language
Immersion, Empowered
Learning, Jump
Start Program, Academic
Subject Tutoring, and Singapore Math. |

This
small group tutoring program focuses on the unique concerns
of gifted children and their families. Dr. Pat Webbink,
the director of The Enrichment Centers, has over 20
years of experience working with gifted and talented
children and has helped design the program. A dynamic
curriculum and specially trained staff tap each student's
skills, talents, and interests in order to motivate,
challenge, and engage them fully in the learning process.
Each child is different, and so is each tutoring session!
Activities range from reading & writing assitance
to computer/internet applications; depending on students'
skill levels and interests!

pick up languages almost effortlessly, so our immersion
program begins at a young age. Our method, Total Physical
Response (TPR) is the world’s premier language teaching
method for three reasons-- TPR works, it’s fun,
and it is scientifically proven! A wide range of activities,
including games, role-playing, field trips, and food preparation
help students learn language with all five senses, just
like a native speaker! Our small groups encourage students
to speak up and learn, and provide a unique opportunity
to become familiar with a new culture in addition to their
new language! |

to address their academic needs in a highly personalized
setting. Parents are encouraged to help design their child’s
summer education program. We offer Jump-start (next grade
level), Remedial (previous grade level), and Expansion
(real-world applications for school material) programs,
all tailored to the student's specific needs. Field trips
and multimedia projects ensure that students learn both
concepts and their applications.

your child finish homework in half the time! Improve self-confidence
in school! In our ever more complex world, young people
need as many tools as possible to navigate the endless
choices before them successfully. The Empowered Learning
Program offers students many of those tools: setting goals,
responsibility, problem solving, getting organized, studying
effectively, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
In
the program, the students explore setting and attaining
goals. Throughout the program, the students will be encouraged
to initiate their own learning, take charge of opportunities,
take risks, and assume responsibility for their progress.
Our goal is to send students home empowered and inspired!

Enrichment Centers, Inc. introduces a program designed
to prepare students to enter the next grade. It is offered
exclusively at the end of the summer to provide a bridge
between summer activities and the upcoming school year.
Students focus on a review of material from the previous
year and an introduction to new material. Instructors
guide students through activities that enable them to
improve upon and master academic skills. Special attention
is given to the transition between phases: elementary
to middle school, middle to high school, and high school
to college. This program offers a very low student to
teacher ratio. |

2005 Individual Tutoring |
| What
is Enrichment Centers' Individual Tutoring? |
|
| Individualized
programs are our most personal form of teaching. Students
and teachers work one on one in their area of choice.
This type of study produces very rapid results, especially
in foreign languages, math, and writing. Teachers have
material unique to each student, and are able to be
completely flexible based on student and parent needs.
Students in individualized programs normally work one
to one, but sometimes if two students at the same Center
are interested in learning the same subject, such as
a foreign language, a small group may be formed to facilitate
three-way conversations.
We
have several types of individualized programs available,
including Academic Subject Tutoring,
Individual Language Tutoring,
One on One Test Prep, and One
on One College Prep. Our Special
Needs Program is also considered an Individualized
program.
Individual
Tutoring may be done in 3 hour blocks; 9am-12pm, 12pm-3pm,
and 3pm-6pm.

Enrichment
Centers tutors work one-on-one with students, ensuring
they receive exciting, stimulating, and challenging
lessons. Tutors can teach every level of language, providing
a complete immersion experience. Learn to speak, read,
or write; whichever you prefer! What follows is a description for our German course, but we offer individual tutoring programs for other languages as well!
German: Language Tutoring, Language Partner
For students seeking to build and/or improve upon their foundations and grasp of the German language, or for more advanced students seeking to practice their skills in oral and written expression with an emphasis on literary analysis. Or, students who are interested in simply practicing their German skills with an undergraduate German major from Duke University are encouraged to apply for this course. Emphasis will include the four core skill sets of language learning: vocabulary, cultural awareness, spoken, and written German. The use of the Internet, especially in building German cultural awareness and reading skills, is an integral part of the course.
About the Instructor: Daniel Yang is a Chemistry/German double major at Duke University, and he hopes to study with the Duke in Bavaria program in the summer of 2006. He has studied the German language since 1999 and was Co-President of the Langley High School chapter of Delta Epsilon Phi, the National German Honor Society. He consistently scored in the top 15% on the National German Exam written by the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG) in 2001-2004. |

Our
teachers work one-on-one with students to prepare them
for tests such as the SSAT, PSAT, SAT, SAT II, AP, IB,
GRE, MCAT, LSAT, and more! We first identify strengths
and weaknesses, then customize a plan to shore up weak
areas while emphasizing talents. Students work under
simulated test conditions and receive constructive feedback
on essay portions. Test taking skills and strategies
are emphasized in addition to relevant subject material.
The Enrichment Centers' SAT Score Improvement Course
Our summer SAT preparation program is taught and directed by a Duke student who has seen his students’ performance increase by up to 260 points on the old SAT. His approach to SAT tutoring is unique and involves intensive refinement of the core skill sets tested on the SAT: vocabulary, sentence completions, reading comprehension, mathematics (including arithmetic, geometry, a unique approach to SAT algebra, and other tested concepts), and the writing section.
We provide students with a broad and deep range of course materials, including dozens of practice sets for each skill set and practice tests, and assessment techniques such as weekly vocabulary quizzes, stories, and sentences, and weekly mathematics technique quizzes. As such, parents are engaged in the learning progress as our instructors regularly apprise them of their student’s progress. The course is further enhanced by use of the Internet, as course materials are available for students to view and download using the free Adobe Reader, and our instructors make themselves fully accessible to students via e-mail and popular Instant Messenger services as a resource to answer student questions.
About the Instructor: Daniel Yang, a Chemistry/German double major at Duke University, has worked with college-bound students the past two years in improving their SAT scores, privately and with Collegiate Consulting Services, a company that he and a business partner spearheaded and administered together. A dynamic, results-oriented teacher and tutor, Daniel has seen improvements of up to 260 points on the pre-2005 SAT and uses time-tested, proven techniques in developing a curriculum for SAT that produces results.
